For most people the area between City Road and Goswell Road is some kind of no-man’s land. Not quite the city anymore and not yet Farringdon. The courageous ones might have explored Bunhill Field Cemetery in their lunch break, but I know many people who have been working in this area for years without even knowing that Whitecross Market exists. What they have been missing out on is simply one of the best places to grab lunch in central London.

The Whitecross Street Market is on every work day from 10am – 2pm and packed with a variety of great food. It’s easy to try out new food every day for a few weeks without ever having to eat something twice. The guys behind the stalls are genuinely awesome people.

You can get the best Burrito in town at Simon’s green Luardos Mexivan. The Falafels from the Hoxton Beach crowd are really good too and you can finish off with lots of chocolate, cake and fresh juice.

Grab some food and take it to the Fortune Street Park or Bunhill Fields on a sunny day. On a rainy day you can find shelter at Fix Coffee.

If you decide to go for the Fortune Street Park check out Giddy Up. Lee makes one of the best coffees in town and is always up for a chat about the art of coffee making, Australia or the latest gossip.
